Admissions

The local education authority is responsible for all admissions to the school. This does not prevent informal approaches direct to the school by parents and other interested parties, but final decisions about admissions rest with the Newcastle Special Needs Inclusion Panel.

Most students are admitted to the school each September when they transfer from our sister primary school, Hadrian School. A small number of students transfer to the school from local mainstream primary schools from across Newcastle. Students visit the school on a number of occasions during the summer term to prepare them for their transfer. In addition, an evening visit is provided for their parents and carers.  At other times, when a child is made the subject of an 'educational health and care plan' (EHC), a decision will be made about where that child’s needs may best be met. If Sir Charles Parsons is the recommended school, papers will be sent to the head teacher who will invite the child and their parents or carers to visit before agreeing an admission date.
