Assessment for Learning

The school has a well-established system to monitor and assess the progress of students within lesson and across a series of lessons. The school uses assessment for learning effectively to support student progress.

The system referred to as ‘How is my learning’ is designed to support students' awareness of how well they have performed in their learning and inform them of how they can move forward. The system uses common colours and words to support student ability to judge how well they have learnt within lessons. Students and staff use the colours and words to discuss and mark their progress.

There are four stages relating to a students’ level of mastery of learning. The image below shows the language and symbols used by staff and students.
