Unauthorised Student Leave

Parents wishing to take students out of school during term time are required to complete a Pupil Holiday Absence Form (available from the school office).

DFE guidance states that head teachers should not grant leave of absence unless there are exceptional circumstances. An application must be made in advance and the head teacher must be satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances based on the individuals facts and circumstances of the case which warrant the leave.

We would like to remind parents and carers that school is unable to authorise absences for holidays for the following reasons..

  • Cheaper prices

  • Parental time off work

  • Fitting in with other family members schedules

  • Reduced temperatures

  • Quieter conditions (unless accompanied by a supporting letter from a medical professional)

(this is not an exhaustive list and in all cases additional information or supporting evidence will be required)

Please note that holidays taken in term time without prior permission from school may result in legal sanctions for irregular attendance being taken against you.
